A/N: For nanuk_dain and inspired by her wonderful Hartenstein/Mortimer manip which you'll find here.

I wonder what it smells like that jacket he wears. One day, somehow, I'll hold him and I'll inhale all its myriad odours; leather and salt spray and sweat and cologne - oh, yes, cologne - and the sandalwood soap I've seen in his cabin. Most of all it will smell of him - just him. Just pure Hartenstein, and I'll touch it, savour it and memorize it just as I will savour his body and all that he is and all that he means to me; this man, this mortal enemy, this German commander who sinks Allied ships, this friend, this obsession.

Ohhhh, this is beautiful! You have a way with words, hon... *dreamy* I can smell and feel what Mortimer is describing, and it's lovely and hot at the same time. I know I sound like a broken record, but I really love your style and the way you express so much in so few words. I'm still in awe that you manage to make drabbles so intense and real considering how few words you can use. Great fic, hon, and I feel honoured that you were inspired by the manip ^^

PS: YAY,I'm back! I handed my paper in yesterday! 26 pages instead of 20... If you're ever interested to read something about the controvery surrounding Christchurch Cathedral, let me know and I can send you the paper XD (I's not quite as thrilling as fics, though... XD). Now I'm on holiday in the mountains, and hopefully I will get some time in to write a few words. Because in all the time that I've been writing my paper, Hartenstein and Mortimer never quite left my mind. Need to get all those ideas out of my system now... ^_^

Happy you liked though I'm sure I got carried away and went a bit overboard (is that a pun?) with the description. The manip is still on my desktop where it keeps on inspiring me. ;)

And yay for your paper being finished! Good for you. Now you can get back to fannish things. Enjoy your holiday. :)
