A/N: This was inspired by a lovely piece of artwork by the talented nanuk_dain. Her Hartenstein/Mortimer manips are purely for drooling over so this is for her. :)

Whenever he's near I feel it - a current; an energy in the air. It surrounds us, only us. Sometimes it scares me... but then our eyes meet. He's watching me, this man, this German commander. I should hate him, but god help me I don't - I love it. I love his touch; need it like I've never needed anything else in my life.

What is wrong with me that I'm addicted to the power this man has over me? He's too close, and I feel our connection even more strongly. I know now that I'm lost - and I don't even care.

Oh my, this is beautiful. It has the same intensity of the radio room scene, this delicious tension that basically jumps you when watching (or in this case reading) it. I love it - short but perfect just the way it is. It's amazing how you manage to convey so much feeling and depth and longing in so few words. I bow to your talent, that's for sure (I was never able to write drabbles, so I admire this even more). And to think that my manip inspired this - I feel honoured, hon! And giddy ^^

Thank you so much for this beautiful wee ficlet - it fits the manip so perfectly. Ahhhh, I love us working together in our wee creative circle ^__^

*blushes* Thank you for your kind comments on the little drabble. However, I've discovered something - OpenOffice can't count! I started using it when I got a new machine and thought I'd ditch the old WordPerfect. However, I had a problem which led to installing the latter on the new machine. When I counted it in WP it said 100. OpenOffice said 104. Er... come again? I ended up counting it manually and it was definitely 100. Well I know which program I'll be using for writing drabbles in the future. ;)

You're welcome, hon. It's just the truth, after all ^_^

As for Open Office - I know! I noticed the same thing! When I posted fics in AO3 I always had a totally different wordcount from the one Open Office had provided! Since I don't do drabbles it's not so important for me that the word count is correct, but it was still annoying... I wonder how those different counts can be - maybe Open Office counts contractions differently...?
